Podcast website redesign case study: an independent AJ Wilcox concept.

This independent AJ Wilcox podcast website redesign case study uses the public podcast archive as the starting point for a five-route concept built through TradeSites. The goal was to make the show, host, newest episode and routes to expert help easier to understand without inventing a client outcome.

This independent concept was not commissioned by AJ Wilcox or B2Linked, is not endorsed or adopted by them, and did not replace their live website.

This is a design study, not a client success story.

The concept was created independently from public content for demonstration and comparative commentary. It was not commissioned, and it is not endorsed or adopted by AJ Wilcox or B2Linked. The live AJ Wilcox website was not changed. No traffic, ranking or conversion result was measured, so this page reports design decisions and tested implementation evidence only.

The problem we chose

Turn a long WordPress archive into a clear podcast destination.

On the capture date, the public AJ Wilcox podcast page opened with the generic H1 “Podcast”, then placed a full article and embedded video ahead of the rest of the archive. Recent posts, search, categories and archive widgets competed for attention in a right-hand sidebar. The archived source ran for many screens and extended beyond the viewport. Those are observations from one dated render, not claims about listener behaviour or business performance.

The design brief was deliberately narrower: identify the show immediately, feature one current episode, make recent episodes scannable, explain who AJ is, and preserve a direct route to the complete B2Linked archive. The wider concept then gave Home, My Story, Work With Me and Contact their own visitor jobs.

Before and after · Dated source references

The visible change starts with hierarchy, not decoration.

All three views compare the archived public source snapshot with the frozen independent concept at matching desktop and mobile viewports. Full-page captures open in a new tab; the cards keep each comparison easy to scan.

Opening hierarchy

The archived source opens with the generic archive heading and newest full article before the show itself is explained.

The concept places the show proposition, intended audience and latest episode within the same opening view.

Archive scanning

Same podcast route · 1440 × 900 source reference and concept view

Archived AJ Wilcox podcast page showing a complete article followed by long-form episode content View full page
A later view on the archived source route shows another episode presented as a full article with its own long-form sections. This is a visible layout observation, not a performance claim.

The concept condenses recent entries into consistent rows so episode number, format, date, title and summary can be compared without opening every article.

Mobile first impression

Same podcast route · first 390 × 844 pixels

Source referenceArchived public source snapshot · 8 February 2026
Archived AJ Wilcox podcast page at 390 pixels with the article archive and sidebar wider than the viewport View full page
At 390 pixels, the archived source reference opens with site navigation and the first full article while the desktop sidebar remains beside it.

At the same viewport, the concept names the show, identifies its B2B audience and presents a direct route to the latest episode.

Source references use the Internet Archive capture of the public podcast route from 8 February 2026. Concept views were captured locally from the frozen TradeSites design study on 21 July 2026. The dates differ, so these views compare visible information structure only; they do not report a controlled experiment or client result.

What changed

Six decisions gave every part of the concept a clearer job.

The redesign did not treat “modern” as a visual style. Each change answers a specific navigation, content or release question.

01 · Show first

Name the podcast and audience

The page leads with The LinkedIn Ads Show and its B2B marketing focus instead of asking a post headline to explain the entire archive.

02 · Current entry point

Feature one recent episode

A dated episode card gives listeners a practical place to start while preserving a route to the official full archive.

03 · Scannable archive

Reduce repeated article chrome

Recent episodes become consistent rows with episode number, guest or format, date, title and a short original summary.

04 · Clear ownership

Separate AJ from B2Linked

AJ’s personal site owns his story and show. Generic LinkedIn Ads agency and management intent stays with B2Linked.

05 · Honest contact

Use verified destinations

The concept links to a verified email and B2Linked routes instead of reproducing placeholder forms, addresses or telephone details.

06 · Reviewable release

Keep approval human-controlled

The exact draft was validated, staged and tested as a private preview. Nothing in this design study changed the public AJ site.

Information architecture

Five routes, each with one visitor decision.

The source website already had multiple core routes. Our deliverable was a five-route redesign concept, not a claim that a one-page site became five pages.

Home

Meet AJ

Establish the person, expertise and three useful paths: help, podcast or story.

My Story

Understand the journey

Condense a verified career narrative without repeating disputed numerical claims.

Podcast

Choose an episode

Explain the show, feature the latest entry and make recent conversations easy to scan.

Work With Me

Reach the delivery team

Hand commercial LinkedIn Ads enquiries to B2Linked rather than duplicating its service pages.

Contact

Pick the right route

Offer verified destinations for client work, speaking, podcast and general contact.

What the QA proves

The concept was tested as a website, not judged from a static mock-up.

20 route-and-viewport checks completed across five routes at 320, 390, 768 and 1440 pixels. No serious or critical Axe findings in the tested preview. TradeSites preflight returned zero warnings and zero errors. The hosted preview also returned a real 404 for a missing route.

That evidence supports the tested build only. It does not mean the concept is fully accessible in every assistive-technology combination, rank-ready, higher-converting or approved for production migration.

Podcast website research

Strong podcast sites help people choose, listen and return.

Current search results split into three broad formats. Specialist service pages explain episode pages, show notes, transcripts, platform links and sponsor or subscription journeys. Large example roundups focus on visual inspiration and archive patterns. Redesign studies work best when they show the original problem, the design decision, the implementation and the limit of any claimed result.

That research supports this proof page. It does not establish TradeSites as a specialist podcast agency or justify a broader service promise. The page therefore stays focused on the built concept, the decisions behind it and the implementation evidence we could actually measure.
